Q. What is the best stand up paddle board size for me? A. When choosing a paddle board there are some key things to consider: Your weight, experience and how you are going to use your SUP are all important considerations. Follow these guidelines and you won't go wrong.
10’ – 10’6” length boards are great for novice and intermediate riders up to 200 lbs. Boards this length tend to have a displacement of 170-190 Liters, and will be very stable for people in this weight class. Heavier people can ride this board, but it will be less stable.
11’ – 11’6” length boards are great for novice and intermediate riders up to 220-230lbs. Boards this length tend to have a displacement of 205-225 Liters, and will be very stable for people in this weight class. Heavier people can ride this board, but it will be less stable.
Riders weighing between 230-300 lbs will love Olas.
Q. What does "Wappa" mean? A. "Wappa" is the English phonetic spelling of the Spanish word "guapa" which means "good looking" or "pretty".
Our founder Layne developed the brand while living in Mexico. While testing prototypes, people on the beach would often remark "su tablas son muy guapa" which translates to "Your boards are very beautiful". Layne wanted to honor the Latin roots of his brand, and Wappa was the perfect expression to do just that.

Q. What does an air vent do on a stand up paddle board? A. Air vents are incorporated within stand up paddle boards to remove the gases that are released from the foam core. If the enclosed and sealed foam had no release vent, the gas pressure could cause the board material to expand and de-laminate. Pressure can also increase internally from dramatic changes to elevation or under heat. For example, travelling through mountains or having the sun beat down on your board for hours on end.
Q. Do Wappa Paddle Boards have air vents? A. Yes. Every Wappa paddle board comes with a Hassle Free Goretex® Air Vent. These are the most trusted vents in the market, releasing pressure and not allowing water or debris in your stand up paddle board automatically. Ours vents do not need to be removed. Just kept clean.
Q. How far do I tighten the screws on the fins? A.Do NOT over tighten the screws. Only tighten until the fins feel snug and secure in the fin box.
